Magnesium Reduces Diabetes Risk

Recent research has found that individuals who consumed the most magnesium lowered their risk of developing diabetes more than 30% during the next 12-18 years, compared to those who consumed the least amount.  The studies suggest that magnesium influences the action of insulin in the body. A lack of magnesium may worsen insulin resistance, triggering the onset of diabetes. The average intake of Magnesium in America is 100 mg.  The recommended doses for a woman is 320 mg and for a man 420 mg.

Magnesium levels have a tendency to decrease among elderly, people taking diuretic medications, and certain medications.

The best food sources of magnesium are green leafy vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and  dried beans. Standard Process offer and easy to take supplement replacement  EZ Magnesium.   It is a plant based magnesium supplements that can be added to water and has a nice berry flavor.  Those who do not consume enough green leafy vegetables are recommended to take a plant based magnesium supplement and not a synthetically made source.

There are several forms of Magnesium, so pulling on off the shelf is not the wisest choice.  Each form of magnesium is absorbed in the body differently and can perform different activities.  For this reason, we recommend getting your vitamin and minerals from plants.  If you have difficulty consuming a large amount of vegetables, we do recommend getting your supplements from plant based forms.  Plant based  magnesium contains multiple forms, it helps take the guesswork out of which kind of magnesium to take.  The plant-based, multiform magnesium in E-Z Mg may be absorbed by the body the way nature intended. The naturally occurring multiform magnesium in E-Z Mg is not expected to contribute to gastrointestinal side effects that are common in other forms of magnesium supplements. Also, recent findings show our plant-based magnesium exhibits significantly higher levels of ionized magnesium in cerebrospinal fluid after only 14 days after administration
